Antique flattened rye straw, for marquetry
Intended above all for traditional straw marquetry, this antique straw is an exceptional, ready-to-use material. Flattened, it reveals its smooth surface and satin sheen, the signature of marquetry. Bringing an old, patinated shade, it is aimed at demanding artisans and makers, for furniture as well as decorative panels.
Flattened and ready to glue
To be flattened, the stem is opened lengthways then crushed until perfectly flat, ready to be glued onto a support. Note: for chair re-seating, use a raw, unflattened rye straw instead. A living material, its structure and the shade obtained after dyeing may vary from one batch to another.

From rye grown in France, this premium-quality straw reflects exceptional agricultural and craft expertise, upheld by Maison Douineau since 1850.
