Dark Raw Willow – Purpurea Daphnoides, a willow variety of its own

A versatile variety with a dark shade, the Purpurea Daphnoides adapts to a wide range of work. Like all our raw willow, it comes from young willow shoots grown in Europe and is aimed at artisanal basketry: making baskets and trays, building or restoring armchairs, creative hobbies and decorative projects.

Working raw willow

Willow is worked after soaking, which restores the flexibility needed for weaving without breaking; woven damp, it tightens as it dries for a taut piece. Store the bundles dry, away from moisture.

A European willow, sourced since 1850

Harvested during the dormant season then dried and sorted, our willow comes from European regions dedicated to basketry, in keeping with Maison Douineau’s expertise since 1850. For your creations, explore the Vannerie DIY universe and Our advice.
